I haven’t eaten out at an Indian restaurant since my university days where we’d take the hot Vindaloo challenge to see who was the “bravest” (some might say dumbest) eater of them all.

Well tonight we ventured to Saleem Restaurant in Coburg…114 Bell St Coburg Map

We hadn’t booked, but were promptly escorted to a spare table. The place was about half empty (or full…depending on how you look at things). The atmosphere was an ecclectic mix of neon lights, bollywood music and great smells.

If there is one thing I know about eating Indian is that they know how to cook their meat. It just melts. Saleem was no exception.

We ordered:

Tandoori Mix Platter,

Lamb Shahi Corma,

Raita,

Kashmiri Pulao,

Garlic Nan, and

a few cans of softdrink.

For those of you following at home thats 11, 21, 48, 54, with a powerball number of 63

It took less than 10 mins from ordering to a table full of food, little wonder with the speed that the waiters raced around the restaurant.

Given our ravenous stomachs there was plenty to eat and after:

a lively discussion about whether or not they kiss in Bollywood films

wondering why our waiter was wearing a shirt with the insignia from a major pizza franchise, and

a surprise meeting with a high school friend from over ten years ago

we were done.

We spent just under $45 for two and got our money’s worth. The staff were also efficient and very courteous.

We’d definitely go back.

4/5

If this feature is not yet available it would be really really useful.
